The Solanus Casey Center Welcomes Black Catholic Heroes

The Solanus Casey Center welcomes Black Catholic Heroes: 69 portraits of Black Catholics chosen, researched, and painted by 12 young Detroiters employed by the College for Creative Studies' Detroit Neighborhood Arts Corps.

The Black Catholic Portraits can be viewed during the Solanus Casey Center's regular hours of operation. Daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Feb. 13.

Special Viewing and Presentation

Sunday Feb. 19, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

The St. Bonaventure Secular Franciscans are sponsoring a special viewing of the portraits, along with “Conversations on Racism,” a presentation by Madonna University's Black Student Union facilitated by Jesse Cox, Madonna’s Chief Diversity Officer.

All are welcome. Reception following the Presentation.

This presentation will reference Fr. Dan Horan's book "White Catholics Guide to Racism and Privilege."
