With those discerning membership in the Order of Malta

On Tuesday, May 26, Archbishop Weisenburger attended an information night for those discerning joining the Michigan Area Order of Malta during a meeting at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica's conference center in Royal Oak. Archbishop Weisenburger, a member of the order, holds up a chasuble representing the Order of Malta.

Confirmation of adults on Pentecost at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament

On May 24, the Solemnity of Pentecost, Archbishop Weisenburger presided over the confirmation of adults at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit, a beautiful reminder that the Holy Spirit continues to call and strengthen disciples in every generation.

Ordination of four new priests for the Archdiocese of Detroit

On Saturday, May 23, Archbishop Weisenburger presided over the ordination of four new priests for the Archdiocese of Detroit, as newly ordained Frs. Lizandro Barba, Karl Finkbeiner, James Musgrave and Daniel Whalen received holy orders at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit through the laying on of hands.

On Mackinac Island for the annual Michigan Knights of Columbus Convention

From May 20-22, Archbishop Weisenburger traveled to Mackinac Island in northern Michigan for the annual Knights of Columbus State Convention at the Grand Hotel, where he gave the keynote address on May 20. The yearly gathering of Knights from throughout Michigan includes several Masses, a living rosary, updates and discussions about issues impacting the Knights, and the election of officers who will lead the statewide council in charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism over the next year. With Detroit's soon-to-be newest priests ahead of their ordination

On Tuesday, May 19, following an ordination rehearsal at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Archbishop Weisenburger hosted the transitional deacons who will be ordained to the priesthood this weekend for the Archdiocese of Detroit. The archbishop blessed the ordinandi's chalices and patens, which they will receive May 23 at their ordination, and enjoyed dinner and fraternity. Pictured with the archbishop (left to right) are Deacons Karl Finkbeiner, Lizandro Barba and Daniel Whalen. Deacon James Musgrave, who will also be ordained on May 23, was unable to attend.

This year's Triduum celebration at St. Bonaventure Monastery and the Solanus Casey Center was made a bit more special by a Tenebrae service on Good Friday featuring the St. Matthew Schola. The Tenebrae service, a beautifully sung solemn vespers, is a special prayer service that commemorates the suffering and death of Christ through powerful visuals and sound, including the extinguishing of candles one by one to symbolize the abandonment of Jesus.

Teenagers from across the Archdiocese of Detroit gathered Feb. 1 at Mercy High School in Farmington Hills for the 2026 RISE Detroit conference. The theme of this year's conference was "Unafraid." The conference featured Mass with Bishop John M. Quinn, keynote addresses from Chick Anyanwu, Eucharistic adoration, confession and time for games and fellowship with Catholic peers from the area.

One-hundred and eighty-six people from parishes all over the Archdiocese of Detroit were consecrated to Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 9 at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. Auxiliary Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton celebrated the feast day Mass of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas, during a special celebration with Spanish-speaking Catholics at Detroit's mother church.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton celebrated the sacrament of confirmation of 92 adults at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. The celebration of confirmations — one of the three sacraments of initiation, along with baptism and first Communion — is celebrated each year on the Solemnity of Christ the King, the final Sunday of the Church's liturgical year, for adults who have already received the sacrament of baptism or are entering into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Cathedral relic encounter reminds visitors of heaven's 'cloud of witnesses' (PHOTOS)

On the Solemnity of All Saints, Nov. 1, the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament hosted the faithful for a special celebration of the Church's saints, complete with the veneration of more than 70 sacred relics from throughout the Church's history.
