On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Archbishop Weisenburger enjoyed an evening of fraternity and fellowship with his brother priests from across the Archdiocese of Detroit. The gathering was hosted at St. Hugo of the Hills Parish in Bloomfield Hills, where priests had the opportunity to share a meal, enjoy one another's company, and be refreshed in their vocation through community.

On Sunday, Aug. 16, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated a special Mass with the Igbo Catholic community at St. Alphonsus-St. Clement Parish in Dearborn, which includes Nigerian immigrants and those of Nigerian descent. Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass in English, but the readings and songs were proclaimed in the Igbo language, and an Igbo choir sang during the Mass. Afterward, the archbishop gathered with members of the community for a reception and blessing. The Igbo Catholic community in Michigan began in 1996, when 15 people met at St. Cecilia for the first Igbo-language Mass. Now, the community has grown to include hundreds of families spread across Michigan, primarily in Metro Detroit.

On Sunday, Aug. 9, Archbishop Weisenburger attended the 45th annual Sweetest Heart of Mary Pierogi Festival, enjoying delicious Polish food, exceptional company and one of Detroit's most cherished parish traditions. This year's festival drew one of the largest crowds the parish has seen so far, with hundreds stopping by to take in the sights, sounds and magnificence of the beautiful church, which has been a source of faith for generations of families.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass with women from across the Archdiocese of Detroit during the annual Black Catholic Women's Conference at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Inspired by Matthew 14:28-33, the conference's theme was “Rooted in the Peace of Christ: Persevering Through the World’s Chaos.” In his homily, Archbishop Weisenburger spoke about the growing individualism in society and the temptation to keep faith private and comfortable. Instead, he said, Christ calls people into a relationship with God and with one another.

On Thursday, July 23, Archbishop Weisenburger gathered with priests from across the United States who are studying for their Licentiate in Sacred Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary for a dinner and evening of fraternity. Each summer, clergy from various dioceses and religious orders spend several weeks at Detroit's seminary learning, praying and studying. The priests were joined at the archbishop's residence by a few of Sacred Heart's faculty members.
