On Monday, Sept. 7, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass at Most Holy Trinity Parish in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood before greeting workers during Detroit's annual Labor Day Parade. During his homily, Archbishop Weisenburger preached about the Church's teachings on the dignity of human labor. Following Mass, Archbishop Weisenburger and parishioners gathered for the annual Labor Day Parade down Michigan Avenue, one of the largest Labor Day celebrations in the country.

On Saturday, Sept. 5, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass to mark the feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta with the Detroit-based Missionaries of Charity at St. Gabriel Parish in southwest Detroit. The Mass at St. Gabriel included a first-class relic of St. Teresa, who was canonized 10 years ago on Sept. 4, 2016. After receiving a call from Jesus to serve the poorest of the poor, Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. Today, the order includes more than 5,750 sisters worldwide.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass at Most Holy Redeemer Parish in southwest Detroit with Catholic high school students from across in the Archdiocese of Detroit in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Catholic High School League. For 100 years, the Catholic High School League has helped young people grow in faith and character both on and off the field. May God bless all the students, coaches, teachers, and families who built this legacy and are carrying it forward into the next century.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, Archbishop Weisenburger, Bishop Fisher and Bishop Monforton met with the four permanent deacon candidates and their wives for the Archdiocese of Detroit, who will be ordained Oct. 3. The four candidates, Kurt Krueger (Mary), Jeff Ostrowski (Erin), Ron Potempski (Marie) and Jim Pryce (Denise), made their oaths of allegiance.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated the 75th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ray Township, which today is part of St. Francis of Assisi-St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. The Mass was celebrated in both English and Spanish for the bilingual community. The parish anniversary falls during the Jubilee Year of St. Francis (Jan. 10, 2026-Jan. 10, 2027), which Pope Leo XIV proclaimed to mark the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi's death.
