AUBURN HILLS — Oakland University students gave public witness to the death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday, carrying a large wooden cross through the heart of campus.

On March 29, nearly two dozen students, led by Fr. Steve Mateja, a priest in solidum at St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, took turns carrying the cross as the group prayed the rosary and Stations of the Cross as curious onlookers passed by.

With a large papal flag waving, the students slowly made their way past familiar campus landmarks, including the Oakland Center and the university's iconic clock tower. At each Station, students stopped and knelt as they remembered Christ's passion in preparation for the Easter feast.

St. John Fisher Chapel is the student parish of Oakland University.
