CHSL girls basketball playoffs move to semi-final stage Feb. 18 and 19

DETROIT — The Catholic League girls basketball season moves on to the semi-final stage in quest of an eventual champion.

The Double A and Intersection 1 division semi-finals will be hosted Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Warren Regina High School.

At 5:30 p.m., defending champ Royal Oak Shrine (8-0) will play Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes (7-2). The Lakers beat Allen Park Cabrini 46-31 in the quarterfinal.

At 7 p.m., Madison Heights Bishop Foley (9-0) meets Wixom St. Catherine (6-3). Foley advanced by beating Riverview Gabriel Richard 54-23, and St. Catherine defeated Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood 45-34.

The winners meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the University of Detroit Mercy Calihan Hall.

The Central Division semi-final takes place Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Novi Detroit Catholic Central.

Farmington Hills Mercy (9-1) plays Dearborn Divine Child (6-5) at 5:30 p.m. Divine Child overwhelmed Macomb Lutheran North 57-23 in the quarterfinal. Mercy beat Divine Child twice in the regular season, most recently 55-48.

At 7 p.m., defending champ Bloomfield Hills Marian (9-1) plays Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard (5-6), who trounced Warren Regina 43-21 in the quarterfinal. Marian defeated Richard twice in regular season.

The winners meet for the championship at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at U-D Mercy Calihan Hall.
