CHSL golf and tennis teams face busy weekend in MHSAA finals

DETROIT — Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19, will be the culmination of a season that started way back in August for seven CHSL golf teams and a host of players from eight CHSL tennis squads after qualifying for the MHSAA state finals.

Golf Division 2 at MSU’s Forest Akers East: 

Seniors Anna Sauer shot an 88 and Elyse Zurawski a 90 on the Farmington Hills course regional to lead Farmington Hills Mercy’s advance to the Division 2 finals.

Golf Division 3 at Grand Valley State University’s The Meadows:

Four teams qualified.

Bloomfield Hills Marian won the regional at Raisin Valley Golf Club in Tecumseh. Junior Shannon Kennedy took medal honors with a 77. Senior Marlo Hudson had an 83.

Dearborn Divine Child took third place. Senior Ellen Berry had an 89.

Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood and Macomb Lutheran North came in second and third, respectively, in the regional at The Fieldstone in Auburn Hills.

Sophomore Charlotte Thibault of Warren Regina shot an 86 to qualify as an individual entry for the state final.

Golf Division 4 at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek:

Playing at Fox Hills regional in Plymouth, Wixom St. Catherine of Siena and Ann Arbor Greenhills finished second and third to move on. Greenhills senior Aarushi Ganguly carded an 82, and St. Catherine’s junior Sarah Haupt, an 83.

Julia Stowe, of Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard, and Katherine Kemp, of Royal Oak Shrine, qualified as individual entrants.
