Detroit — Parishes around the Archdiocese of Detroit celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on June 22, also known as the Feast of Corpus Christi.
An annual tradition, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron led a Eucharistic procession around the neighborhood surrounding the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit, but other churches in the archdiocese, such as SS. Andrew & Benedict Parish in southwest Detroit; St. Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish in Rockwood; and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Plymouth, also held Eucharistic processions on or around the parish grounds.
At SS. Andrew & Benedict, the procession visited four altars set up to represent a certain heritage or ethnicity: one for American heritage, one for Hispanic heritage, one for African-American heritage, and one for Polish/Slavic heritage.
