Biskner succeeds founding CEO Angela Moloney in leading local nonprofit after a 'mission-centered' national search process
BLOOMFIELD HILLS — The Catholic Foundation of Michigan named John F. Biskner as its second president and chief executive officer on April 14, succeeding Angela Moloney, who led the organization since its founding in 2017 until 2025.
Biskner, 53, brings more than 20 years of experience serving dioceses, parishes and Catholic organizations nationwide, with deep expertise in stewardship, development, parish operations and mission-driven strategy.
“John brings a rare combination of deep Catholic ministry experience, executive leadership, and the ability to build systems that support stewardship and growth,” Mike Vlasic, chair of the Catholic Foundation of Michigan's board of directors, said in a press release. “He has consistently helped Catholic organizations align their efforts with real pastoral and operational needs, strengthening both engagement and long-term impact.”
Previously, Biskner founded Biskner & Associates, where he advised dioceses an nonprofit organizations nationwide on stewardship models, development strategy, parish ministry, and the strategic use of data to support mission-driven outcomes.
His work has focused on helping Catholic organizations build sustainable systems that enable both growth and faithful service.
“I am honored and humbled to serve the Catholic Foundation of Michigan,” Biskner said. “I have experienced how faithful stewardship can strengthen parishes and ministries and transform lives, and I feel called to this opportunity to serve the church in my hometown. I look forward to listening and learning as I work alongside donors, clergy and lay leaders to support the future of the Church in Michigan.”
Biskner is a Pontiac native who graduated from Cranbrook Schools and was active in young adult ministry at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in Royal Oak. He earned a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering from the University of Michigan's College of Engineering in 1996.
He entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 2001, and through prayerful discernment, recognized a call to serve the Church in a lay vocation. He earned a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and marketing in 2012.
Biskner was co-owner and director of business development at Gabriel Software (now part of eCatholic), where he helped guide the company’s rapid growth and expansion into new markets, increasing adoption from fewer than 30 to more than 700 parishes in just two years.
He also held leadership roles at Ave Maria Radio and ParishSOFT, where he worked extensively with dioceses on stewardship strategy, development operations, and organizational effectiveness.
“Guided by the Holy Spirit and a rigorous, mission-centered national search process, our committee discerned that John is uniquely equipped to lead the Foundation forward,” Vlasic said. “We are confident in his ability to build on the strong foundation already in place and to strengthen relationships with donors, parishes, and ministries across Michigan.”
Previously, Biskner served as senior product strategist for the Catholic market at ACS Technologies, where he led efforts to align enterprise-level technology solutions with the needs of parishes and dioceses nationwide. His leadership contributed to the widespread adoption of MinistryPlatform and strengthened long-term engagement with Catholic organizations.
Biskner married his wife Caroline in 2004, and the couple has five children. He is a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Ann Arbor, where he serves in music ministry and co-leads marriage ministry for engaged couples.
The Catholic Foundation of Michigan is an independent 501(c)3 organization that empowers faithful philanthropy by helping donors establish charitable funds that support Catholic parishes, schools, and ministries. Since its founding in 2017, the foundation has distributed $40 million in grants to nurture the Church’s spiritual, educational and social mission.
