Catholic Charities Adult Day Services — Daytime centers operated by Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan offering social activities and stimulating projects for adults with cognitive health challenges such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. Catholic Charities Senior Volunteer Programs — Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan offers several programs for adults 55 and older looking to volunteer in their communities. Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) — Offers in-home health services and transportation for preventive care and comprehensive support to frail seniors in southeast Michigan eligible for Medicaid and Medicare. Call (855) 445-4554 or visit www.pacesemi.org.

AARP Senior Community Service Employment Program — Helps low-income, unemployed individuals age 55 and older find temporary work with local nonprofits and public agencies. Based in Southgate. Call (734) 281-2470.

Michigan Senior Brigade — Program run by the Michigan attorney general offering information and advice on financial matters, common senior scams and health care. Elder Abuse Hotline — A 24-hour state-run hotline to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of a senior citizen. Call (855) 444-3911. Or call the Bureau of Health Services Abuse Hotline at (800) 882-6006.

Health Care Fraud Hotline — A 24-hour hotline run by the Michigan attorney general to report suspected Medicaid fraud by health care providers. Call (800) 242-2873.

St. Patrick Senior Center — Helps seniors 60 and older by providing educational, spiritual, social and health care services in Detroit. Call (313) 833-7080.

The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW) — Offers utility assistance for Michigan residents in need. Call (800) 866-8429.

University of Detroit Mercy Legal Aid Clinics — The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law provides more than 12,000 hours of free legal assistance each year to residents in need through its 10 legal clinics, including aid for veterans. Call (313) 596-0200.

Alzheimer’s Association-Greater Michigan Chapter — Education, training, respite care, adult day care, support groups, counseling and a 24-hour help line for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s. Call (800) 272-3900.
