Sr. Mary Nunciata, CSSF, of Detroit, completed her life’s journey of 90 years on April 22 in St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Livonia. She was 72 years in religious life.

Mary Kazul was born Sept. 3, 1927, to Charles and Frances (Perodka). In 1945, she was admitted to the postulancy of the Felician Sisters. She received the name, Sr. Mary Nunciata, and made first vows in 1947 and final vows in 1953.

Sr. Nunciata earned degrees from Madonna (College) University and the University of Notre Dame. She served as teacher and principal for several schools, including St. Louis the King, Corpus Christi, Patronage of St. Joseph, St. Josaphat, St. Hyacinth, St. Andrew, St. Ignatius and St. Hilary, all in Detroit; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Wyandotte; St. Michael, Livonia; St. Adalbert, South Bend, Ind.; St. Hyacinth, Bay City; St. Stanislaus, Jackson; St. Mary, both in Parisville and Alpena; St. Leonard, Warren; St. Bernadette, Dearborn; St. Dunstan, Garden City; Our Lady of Refuge, Orchard Lake; and St. Valentine, Redford.

Fr. Thomas Puzio celebrated Mass of Christian Burial on April 27 in the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel of the Felician Sisters’ Central Convent in Livonia. Burial is in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
