DETROIT – Some 13 first-time trophies were among the 65 claimed by 23 Catholic High School League teams during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep girls won four of the trophies for golf, skiing, softball and track. The girls also won soccer and volleyball trophies. St. Mary’s boys were baseball and skiing champions to give the Eaglets a combined total of eight trophies.
Other first-time trophy winners were Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard in boys bowling, Ann Arbor Greenhills in girls volleyball, Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart in skiing, Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood in softball and baseball, Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett Jackson Lumen Christi in girls basketball and softball and Toledo St. John’s Jesuit in boys basketball.
Five schools won five trophies: Greenhills (boys cross country, girls cross country, lacrosse, track and volleyball), Dearborn Divine Child (boys baseball, basketball and lacrosse and girls cheer and pom-pon), Farmington Hills Mercy (bowling, dance, swimming, tennis and volleyball), University Liggett (boys ice hockey and soccer and girls field hockey, ice hockey, and tennis), and Novi Detroit Catholic Central (golf, hockey, soccer, track and wrestling).
The CHSL sponsors regular season-ending playoffs in three divisions — Bishop (for the Central Division squads), Cardinal (for AA Division) and Ste. Anne (for the Intersectional 1 and 2 teams). Which division a school competes in is generally based on enrollment and level of competitiveness. Here’s the lineup of champions:
