Abp. Vigneron to lead pilgrimage to North American ‘mother parish’

Detroit — Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron will lead a Marian pilgrimage to Montreal and Quebec, Canada, this summer in celebration of the 350th anniversary jubilee of the historic parish of Notre-Dame de Quebec, considered the “mother parish” of all other Canadian and U.S. parishes.

The pilgrimage, Aug. 13-17, will include stops at the Basilica of Notre Dame du Cap de la Madeleine in Montreal and a guided tour of Quebec City’s important churches and sites, including the Museum du Bon Pasteur and Museum of the Ursulines.

Archbishop Vigneron will celebrate Mass with the group at many stops, including the Feast of the Assumption on Aug. 15 at the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Quebec, and will offer spiritual teaching and prayers at others. Pilgrims will also be treated to a “Let There Be Light” show at the basilica in Montreal.

Other locations include the Crypt Church, Oratory of St. Joseph, the Shrine of Ste. Anne de Beupre and St. Francis Xavier Mission.

The pilgrimage will depart by motor coach for Canada from Our Lady of La Salette Parish in Berkley.
