Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger announces the following appointments:
Fr. Timothy Birney appointed Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, effective Jan. 2, 2026. Fr. Birney currently serves as Moderator and a member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Taylor; St. Alfred Parish, Taylor; St. André Bessette Parish, Ecorse; St. Constance Parish, Taylor; St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park; and St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Melvindale, which form the Quo Vadis Domine Family of Parishes.
Fr. Jeffrey Day appointed as full-time support to the Office of the Archbishop and the Office of the Moderator of the Curia, effective Jan. 2, 2026, until such time that he receives another assignment. Fr. Day currently serves as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia.
Fr. John Herman, CSC, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend William Lies, CSC, appointed Moderator and a member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Taylor; St. Alfred Parish, Taylor; St. André Bessette Parish, Ecorse; St. Constance Parish, Taylor; St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park; and St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Melvindale, which form the Quo Vadis Domine Family of Parishes, effective Jan. 2, 2026. Pending inclusion in the Family Priests' Covenant, Fr. Herman will have primary care of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park. Fr. Herman currently serves as a member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Holy Cross (Hungarian) Parish, Detroit; Most Holy Trinity Parish, Detroit; Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Detroit; St. Francis D'Assisi-St. Hedwig Parish, Detroit; St. Juan Diego Parish, Detroit; and Ste. Anne Parish, Detroit, which form the Southwest Detroit Family of Parishes.
