Guests at Mercy Court have included, for instance, “a young couple and their toddler for two weeks while their house in Detroit was being treated for mold” and “patients referred by the American Cancer Society who live three or more hours away and need a place to stay while receiving treatment in the Detroit area,” according to a news release from the Sisters of Mercy.
Other uses for the space include retreats, educational events and spiritual meditation.
Art Van Furniture delivered the beds to Mercy Court on Oct. 17.
"The Sisters of Mercy are most grateful to Art Van Furniture for the donation of 37 mattresses to Mercy Court on our Farmington Hills property,” Mercy Sr. Maureen Mulcrone said in a statement. “Mercy Court is a location for spiritual and physical renewal and education for many individuals and groups in the metropolitan area, across the state and beyond.”
The guest house “is a regular meeting place for Sisters of Mercy from across the country and beyond. Mercy Court, in affiliation with The American Cancer Society, also provides housing without cost to cancer patients who live more than three hours away from their treatment center,” Sr. Mulcrone said.
“Art Van Furniture’s generosity makes it possible for all these groups and many others to enjoy a good night’s sleep as they renew, recover, pray and learn."
