DSO musicians go to church

METRO AREA -- During the months-long labor dispute involving the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the striking musicians have performed in a number of venues in southeast Michigan, including Catholic churches.

There have been concerts at St. Patrick in Detroit, St. Anne in Warren, St. Hugo in Bloomfield Hills, and, last Saturday, at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Grosse Pointe Woods.  With Kenneth Kiesler conducting, the orchestra performed numbers by Brahms, Beethoven, and Saint-Saëns, the latter featuring the parish’s Karl Wilhem organ.
