Fr. John Guimond, OFM Cap., died June 23 at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florent and Odela, and his five siblings. He is survived by his nieces Patty Roe (Charles), Diane Dziadosz (Tom), and Suzanne Riggs, his nephews Phillip Rico and Jerry Bernier (Danielle), and his Capuchin brothers of the Province of St. Joseph.

Fr. Guimond entered the Capuchin order in 1976 after retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, and was stationed at the Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington, Mich., since 2008.

A funeral Mass for Fr. Guimond was held June 27 at St. Bonaventure Monastery in Detroit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Retreat Center or to the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph, 1820 Mt. Elliott St., Detroit, MI  48207.
