Father John P. LaCasse, entered eternal life on September 29, 2011 at the age of 69.
Father LaCasse was born on September 18, 1942 in Escanaba, Michigan, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on December 1, 1974. He served as associate pastor and later administrator at St. Leonard of Port Maurice Parish, Warren (1975-77); associate pastor of St. Theodore of Canterbury Parish, Westland (1979-88); associate pastor of St. Mary Queen of Creation Parish, New Baltimore (1988-89); pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Ida (1989-2008); and administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Maybee (1997-98).
He will be waked at Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother House Chapel, 610 West Elm Avenue, Monroe (734-241-3660). Visitation will be Tuesday, October 4, from 2-9 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Father LaCasse will lie in repose beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother House Chapel until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, Michigan.
Father LaCasse was predeceased by his father, Romeo LaCasse. He is survived by his mother Veronica LaCasse; and sister Mary Ann (John) Beauchamp. Condolences may be sent to Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother House, 610 West Elm Avenue, Monroe, Michigan 48162.
