Mrs. Riesterer was a graduate from St. Mary Catholic School in Mount Clemens and a member of the class of 1947 at Siena Heights College. Bishop Walter Hurley of Grand Rapids, a former auxiliary bishop in Detroit, who presided over the funeral liturgy for Mrs. Riesterer July 11 at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, St. Clair Shores, called her “a good and loyal friend, a very gifted and competent woman who loved and served her family, the Church and the community with great dedication.”

“She was always willing to set aside her own comfort and ease for the service of others,” Bishop Hurley said. “She was a humble, joyful and wise woman of deep faith and prayer and brought that to all she did. I know she would be grateful for your prayers.”

Michigan Appeals Court Judge Michael Talbot, chairman of the review board, said “She had a great love for the Church and brought both outstanding professional credentials and solid common sense to our deliberations. She was of great help during a particularly difficult time.”
