Lenten Symposium set for March 9

STERLING HEIGHTS — Gaylord Bishop Bernard A. Hebda will speak about the importance and hope of the new evangelization in light of the Year of Faith at the 16th annual Lenten Symposium on March 9 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Parish in Sterling Heights.

The annual symposium, sponsored by Holy Trinity Apostolate, will begin with 8 a.m. Mass at the parish, 41233 Ryan Road.

Other speakers include authors and speakers Fr. Larry Richards and Fr. Leo Patalinghug. Fr. Richards will speak about doing God’s will, and Fr. Patalinghug, who runs the popular pro-family apostolate Grace Before Meals, will speak about marriage.

In addition, Mother Mary Assumpta Long, OP, prioress general of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, will speak about finding joy in the cross, Fr. Charles Becker will talk about overcoming addiction, and Fr. Luigi Gabris, associate pastor of SS. Cyril and Methodius, will talk about “spiritual fertility.”

Vic Faust of WXYZ Action News will emcee the event.

Cost is $40 per person, $20 per college student, and a youth symposium for ages 14-17 is also offered for $15. Seminarians can attend free. Confessions will be available throughout the symposium, and benediction will also be offered.
