Fr. Alfonsas Babonas passed on from this life on Sept. 21, 2019, at the age of 92.

Fr. Babonas was born Sept. 6, 1927, and ordained a priest in the Diocese of Kaunas, Lithuania, on Dec. 22, 1962. He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 30, 1979.

Fr. Babonas served as pastor of St. Anthony (Lithuanian) Parish, Detroit, from 1979 until his retirement in 2009. Following his retirement, Fr. Babonas moved back to Bristonas, Lithuania, where he continued to help out at his local parish until his passing.
