Fr. Nicholas Zukowski passed from this life on March 4, 2026, at the age of 71.
Fr. Zukowski was born on Oct. 9, 1954, in Detroit, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on May 1, 1982.
The longtime pastor of St. Martin de Porres Parish in Warren (2014-20) and St. Mary, Queen of Creation Parish in New Baltimore (1993-2014), Fr. Zukowski at the time of his passing served as a member of the in solidum team of priests who pastor St. Michael Parish, Sterling Heights; St. Ephrem Parish, Sterling Heights; St. Blase Parish, Sterling Heights; and St. Martin de Porres Parish, Warren, which form the Saints Among the Saints Family of Parishes, serving primarily at St. Martin de Porres.
He also served as vicar for the Blue Water Vicariate and as parochial vicar of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Snows Parish in Milford (1982); Holy Cross Parish in Marine City (1982-85); Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish in Hamtramck (1985-90); and St. Hugo of the Hills Parish in Bloomfield Hills (1990-93). Fr. Zukowski was granted senior status on Jan. 25, 2026.
Fr. Zukowski is predeceased by his parents, Reverend Mr. Raymond Zukowski and Rose Marie (nee Hapke) Zukowski, and siblings Cathy Zukowski, Patricia Sieczynski, and David Zukowski. He is survived by his nieces, Rosemarie (Jacob Dame) Wisniewski and Lisa Marie (Ira Keller) Sieczynski, and his nephew Larry Sieczynski.
Fr. Zukowski's funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, March 10, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren.
