May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Anna Mae Kelly, OP

Sr. Anna Mae Kelly, OP, known as Sister Ann Kelly and formerly known as Sister Neal Joseph, died on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 88 years of age and in the 69th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Anna Mae was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Anne (Galvin) Kelly. Sister graduated from St. Thomas the Apostle High School in Chicago and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and a Master of Arts degree in Latin and a Master of Pastoral Studies degree in Pastoral Theology, both from Loyola University in Chicago.

Sister spent 42 years ministering in elementary education in Detroit, Albion, Dearborn and Jackson, Michigan, and in Chicago and Blue Island, Illinois. She also served as a chaplain for one year at the Dominican Life Center and as an assistant in Weber Center in Adrian. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan, in 2017.

Sister Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Neal and Joseph. She is survived by loving family, friends, and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols, the Dominican Life Center is closed to all guests or visitors until further notice. All are welcome to participate in Sister’s wake and funeral via live stream at http://www.adriandominicans.org/LiveStream.aspx

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 am Thursday, January 20, 2022. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI, 49221.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
