May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Helen Wilson, OP

Sr. Helen Wilson, OP, formerly known as Sister Sean Angela, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 85 years of age and in the 61st year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Helen was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Spencer and Mary Angela (Gleason) Wilson. Sister graduated from Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Guidance, both from Barry College (University) in Miami Shores, Florida.

Sister spent 46 years ministering in education, guidance counseling, and office services in Detroit and Pontiac, Michigan; and Jacksonville, Miami Beach, Fort Walton Beach and West Palm Beach, Florida. She spent 17 years in office support and as guidance counselor at Dominican High School in Detroit, a Congregation institution. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2013.

Sister Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Robert Joseph “RJ” Wilson, Mary Butler and Angela Condon and cousins: Sister Rita Gleason and Sister Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Waldron, also Adrian Dominican Sisters. She is survived by loving nieces and nephews and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols, the Dominican Life Center is closed to all guests or visitors until further notice. All are welcome to participate in Sister’s wake and funeral via live stream at http://www.adriandominicans.org/LiveStream.aspx

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 2, 2021, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI, 49221.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
