May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Jane Quirk, OP

Sr. Jane Quirk, OP, baptized Jean Ellen Quirk, died on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 95 years of age and in the 76th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Jane was born in Harvey, Illinois, to Eugene and Jane (Monckton) Quirk. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian and received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in History from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, a Master of Arts degree in History from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

Sister ministered for over 53 years in elementary and special education in Dearborn, Detroit and New Baltimore, Michigan; Shaker Heights, Medina and Toledo, Ohio; Satellite Beach, Florida; Bartlett, Tennessee, and Bartlett, Illinois. She was principal for six years at St. Francis Xavier School in Medina and five years at Blessed Sacrament School in Toledo, and for two years at Holy Name School in Satellite Beach. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2006.

Sister Jane was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, Francis and George. She is survived by loving family and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols, the Dominican Life Center is closed to all guests or visitors until further notice. All are welcome to participate in Sister’s services via livestream at https://adriandominicans.org/Live-Stream

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, August 15, 2022, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI, 49221.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
