‘Powderpuff’ girls’ football spectacular set for Sept. 11

Detroit -- Seniors from Regina and Marian High School will play their annual 'powderpuff' girls' flag football game at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at Adlai E. Stephenson High School's football field, according to a news release from Regina High School in Warren.

Thousands of fans usually attend the game. Senior class participants from the two schools have been practicing since July.

Before the fun begins, a solemn moment of silence will be held in remembrance of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Regina Principal Sr. Leanne Leszczynski, SSJ-TOSF will lead the prayer and a flag dedication ceremony will take place with involvement from the Sterling Heights and Warren fire and police departments, the Warren Color Guard, and captains of the Regina powderpuff team.

Tickets for the football game are $6 for students and $8 for adults. They will be sold at the entrance.
