Detroit — A pair of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit are also joining in the anniversary celebrations.
Most Holy Trinity School in Detroit, one of the oldest Catholic schools in Michigan, marked its 175th anniversary with a gala and silent auction Oct. 18.
Principal Sheila Dunleavy, who took over at that position last year, reflected on the school’s heritage as one of quality Catholic teaching.
“We have been educating and protecting God’s children for 175 years. We continue to provide a safe, nurturing, educational and spiritual environment where all children can succeed,” Dunleavy said. “Our outstanding teachers, supportive staff and homemade lunches provide a home-away-from-home for our incredible students.”
In addition, St. Germaine School in St. Clair Shores is planning a special Mass and activities for its 50th anniversary. Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron will celebrate Mass at 4 p.m. Feb. 1, 2014, at the church, which will be followed by a tour of the school and reception.
