Sr. Alice Marie Lacina, OP

LacinaSr. Alice Marie Lacina, OP, formerly known as Alice Helen Lacina, died April 14 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 89 and in the 67th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Lacina was born in Owosso to Albert and Frances (Sheda) Lacina. She graduated from St. Paul High School in Owosso, and received a Bachelor of Science education degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Sr. Lacina spent 37 years ministering in elementary education in Michigan and Illinois, including Precious Blood School, Detroit (1947-56); St. Stephen School, Saginaw (1970-71); and St. Paul School, Owosso (1971-84). She also ministered for three years at St. Paul Parish in Grosse Pointe. She was the activities assistant at Maria Health Care Center (Dominican Life Center) in Adrian for three years and volunteered in the Campus Mail Room for 16 years. She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 1987.

Sr. Lacina is survived by a sister, Blanche Jones of Lansing.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered in St. Catherine Chapel on April 22. Burial is in the Congregation cemetery. Memorial gifts to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221.
