Sr. Jean Agnes Klemm, OP, formerly Helen Josephine Klemm, died Jan. 15. She was 96 and in the 78th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Klemm was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to John and Agnes (Rose) Klemm. Sister attended St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines, Iowa, Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, and earned a licentiate philosophy degree and a doctor of philosophy degree in Spanish, both from the University of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Sr. Klemm spent 52 years ministering in education in Illinois, Michigan, Florida, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. In Michigan, she taught at Dominican High School, Detroit (1957-60); St. Ambrose High School, Detroit (1960-61); and as an art teacher and assistant professor at Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian (1970-89).

Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 22 in St. Catherine Chapel. Burial is in the Congregation cemetery.
