Sr. Jean Kathleen Comiskey, formerly known as Loretta Therese Comiskey, died June 29 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 83 and in her 63rd year of religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sr. Comiskey was born in Chicago to Paul and Catherine Comiskey. She graduated from Aquinas High School in Chicago and received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, and a Master of Science degree in zoology from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
She spent 49 years ministering in education in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Florida. In the Archdiocese of Detroit, she taught at St. Scholastica in Detroit (1948-52), St. Alphonsus in Dearborn (1952-53), St. Lawrence High School in Utica (1956-60) and St. Mary High School in Royal Oak (1960-65).
Sr. Comiskey became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan, in 2010.
She is survived by a loving niece and nephew.
Sr. Comiskey’s funeral was July 2 at the Dominican Life Center.
