Sr. Kathleen Scanlon, OP

Sr. Kathleen Scanlon, OP, formerly Sr. Raymond Marie Scanlon, died Jan. 28. She was 92 and in the 73rd year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Scanlon was born in Detroit to Raymond and Mary Frances (Long) Scanlon. She received degrees from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and the University of Detroit (Detroit-Mercy).

Sr. Scanlon spent 33 years ministering in education in Illinois and Michigan. In Michigan, she taught at St. Joseph, Port Huron (1954-55); Resurrection School, Lansing (1955-60); St. Francis of Assisi, Ann Arbor (1960-61); St. Mary, Royal Oak (1961-65); St. Patrick, Brighton (1965-69); and St. Alphonsus, Dearborn (1969-75). She was also principal at Resurrection, St. Mary, St. Patrick and St. Alphonsus. Sr. Scanlon served at Weber Center in Adrian from 1975-78, and was manager of the Community Living Center, Inc. in Farmington. From 1980-90, she was coordinator of Christian service at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Northville.

Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 3 in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian. Burial will be in the Congregation cemetery.
