Sr. Mary Katherine Allberry, OP, formerly known as Sr. Charles Paul Allberry, OP, died Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 64 and in the 46th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Born in Detroit to Charles and Eleanor (McKenna) Allberry, she graduated from Rosary High School in Detroit, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Sr. Allberry spent 21 years ministering in education in Bad Axe and Adrian, as well as at two Ohio schools. She was a pastoral minister at Maria Health Care Center in Adrian for two years and for 16 years at St. Anastasia Parish in Troy. She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan in 2008.

She is survived by two sisters, Jane Linscott of west Michigan community of Wyoming, and Lynn Marx of Brighton; and one brother, Charles of Naperville, Ill.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 21, in St. Catherine Chapel, Adrian. Burial was in the congregation’s cemetery.
