Sr. Mary Salome Sudryk, CSSF, formerly Julia Sudryk (Sadrakulski) died Sept. 12 at Blessed Mary Angela Convent, Livonia. She was 93, and had been in religious life 74 years.
Born May 22, 1917 and baptized Julia at St. Stanislaus Church, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she was the eldest of five children of Andrew and Frances (Sadowiak) Sadrakulski.
She was received into the postulancy of the Felician Congregation on Aug. 12, 1936. During the investiture ceremony in 1937 she received the religious name, Sr. Mary Salome. She professed first vows in1938 and final vows in 1944.
For 48 years Sr. Sudryk was assigned to various responsibilities in the domestic and culinary service at convents that spanned Michigan. Her ministry assignments took her to: St. Hedwig and St. Hyacinth, Bay City; the Orchard Lake Schools; St. Valentine, Kawkawlin; St. Joseph, Jackson; St. Stanislaus, Ludington; Patronage of St. Joseph, Help of Christians, Sacred Heart and St. Casimir, all in Detroit; St. Mary, Alpena; St. John Vianney, Wyoming; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Wyandotte; St. Dunstan, Garden City; and St. Michael the Archangel, St. Clare Home and the Provincial House, all in Livonia.
Sr. Sudryk became a permanent resident of Blessed Mary Angela Convent and participated in the prayer ministry of the infirmary.
She is survived by nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 16 in the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel in the Central House of the Felician Sisters, Livonia.
Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
