Sr. Marian Rollinson, IHM

Sr. Marian Rollinson, IHM, formerly Sr. Ann Charles Rollinson, IHM, died Dec. 8 in her home, the IHM Sisters’ Motherhouse in Monroe. She was 85

She was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Pontiac, one of five children, three boys and two girls, of Charles and Clara (Compeau) Rollinson, and given the name Marian. She attended St. Frederick elementary and high school in Pontiac.

She became a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe in 1944, taking the religious name of Sr. Ann Charles.

Sr. Rollinson earned a bachelor’s degree from Marygrove College in Detroit and a master’s degree from the Wayne State University, Detroit. She taught for 40 years at St. Joseph, Monroe; Our Lady of Lake Huron, Harbor Beach; St. Boniface, St. Patrick, St. George, St. Raymond, St. Rose and St. Thomas Aquinas, Detroit; St. Joseph, Dexter; Our Lady of Lake Huron, Harbor Beach; Our Lady of Lourdes, River Rouge; and St. Timothy, Trenton; and in other states.

Beginning in 1987, she did pastoral and religious education ministry ministered at a Florida parish. In 1992, Sr. Rollinson returned to Michigan and was a resource teacher at St. Hugo of the Hills, Bloomfield Hills.

In 2003 Sr. Rollinson retired to the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe. She entered the Health Care Center in 2006, residing there until her death.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 14, in the motherhouse chapel by Fr. Marc Gawronski. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery on the motherhouse campus.
