Sr. Mary Ann Kasper, SJ, died Feb. 4 at Angela Hospice. She was 74 and in her 52nd year of religious life.  Sr. Kasper was born in Toledo to Stanley and Albina (Ciaciuch) Kasper. She entered religious life as a Felician sister and made her final profession with the Servants of Jesus religious community in 1974.

After earning degrees from the University of Toledo, Wayne State University and St. John Provincial Seminary, she taught Spanish for 15 years in Catholic high school in Michigan and at Lourdes College in Ohio. Later she served as a pastoral minister in the Archdiocese of Detroit. In addition to her ministry, she enjoyed promoting vocations and playing the piano and organ.

Her funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 9 at St. Sabina Church in Dearborn Heights by her brother, Fr. John Kasper, OSFS. Burial is at the Portacoeli cemetery of the Franciscan Sisters of Sylvania, Ohio.

She is also survived by her sisters Carol Kwiatkowski (John, deceased) and Patricia Urbaniak (Tom) and the Servants of Jesus.
