Sr. Mary Margaret Perry, O.P., died peacefully Jan. 12 at home with her sisters at the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Farmington Hills. She was 92 and in the 67th year of her profession as a Cloistered Dominican Nun.Sr. Perry was born in Covington, Ky., to James and Hazel (Burke) Perry. She entered the Dominican Monastery of the Holy Name in Cincinnati in 1944. When that monastery closed due to declining numbers, Sr. Perry transferred to the Monastery of St. Dominic in Newark, N.J. That monastery also eventually closed, and Sister transferred to the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in 2004.
Sr. Perry has served her communities in many ways. Her duties included work in the Altar Bread Department and Sacristy. She had a Dominican love of study and was the community librarian. Sister was also a member of the leadership team (councilor) during her time at the Cincinnati and Newark monasteries.
Sr. Perry is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and their children. A Mass of Christian Burial was January 16. Burial is at the Cloistered Dominican Nuns plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
