Sr. Phillips Sr. Phillips
Sr. Maura Phillips, OP, formerly Kathleen Phillips, died July 26 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 102 years of age and in her 77th year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Phillips was born in Defiance, Ohio, to James and Catherine (O’Donnell) Phillips. She earned degrees in French and music from St. Joseph College (Siena Heights University) in Adrian and Colombia University in New York City. She also was certified as a clinical pastoral minister by University Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Sr. Phillips spent 33½ years ministering in education in Michigan and Florida, including at St. Mary High School in Royal Oak (1940), St. Ambrose, Detroit (1940-51), and Siena Heights College in Adrian (1963-73).

Sr. Phillips is survived by a cousin, Fr. John Dister, SJ, of Clarkston, and a nephew, James Phillips of Defiance, Ohio. A memorial Mass was celebrated July 30 in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian, and Rite of Committal will be in the Congregation cemetery.
