Sr. Patricia Glaab, IHM, 74, died July 11 at the IHM Health Care Center.Sr. Glaab was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Romulus, one of five daughters and four sons of Peter and Marie (Le Blanc) Glaab. She attended St. Mary Grade School in Wayne and St. Mary Academy in Monroe. She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Monroe in 1957 and received the name Sr. Mary Elizabeth Seton.
Sr. Glaab earned a bachelor’s degree from Marygrove College and a master’s from the University of Detroit. She taught at St. Raymond and Our Lady of Good Counsel, Detroit; St. Patrick, Carleton; Holy Redeemer, Detroit; St. Mary Academy, Monroe; and St. Cyril, Taylor.
She served her community as a provincial and secretary for 10 years. In 1989, she returned to teaching and spent five years at the David School (David, Ky.) before returning to Detroit in 1994 as coordinator of the Dominican Learning Center until 2005.
She then served as resident services director of the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe. In 2010, she began managing the gift shop on campus.
Sr. Glaab is survived by sisters, Marie DeLangis and Susan Hengstebeck; brothers, Peter and William Glaab, and many nieces and nephews. Her sisters, Anna Marie Glaab and Anita Woolley, and brothers, Gerald and John, preceded her in death.
Mass of the Resurrection was July 18 at the IHM Motherhouse. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery on the Motherhouse campus.
