Sr. Rita Anne Moceri, OP, formerly known as Martha Moceri, died Sept. 4 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 95 and in the 77th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Moceri was born in Detroit to Sebastian and Antoinette (Cusmano) Moceri. She graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Detroit and received a bachelor of philosophy degree in history from Siena Heights College (University), and a master of education degree from the University of Detroit.

She spent 66 years ministering in education in Illinois, Ohio and Michigan. In Michigan, she taught at Our Lady of Sorrows (1952-60) and Precious Blood, Detroit (1960-64); St. Joseph in the city of St. Joseph (1964-66); St. Joseph, Maybee (1966-68); and as principal at both St. Joseph schools for a time.

Sister was also religious education coordinator for 12 years, and a religious education teacher and volunteer sacristan. Sr. Moceri became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2004.

She is survived by three sisters, Grace Maceri and Mary Catherine DeRose of St. Clair Shores, and Florence Ruggeri of Clinton Township.

Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Catherine Chapel on Sept. 8. Burial is in the Congregation cemetery.
