Sr. Ruth Anne Kelly, OP, formerly Sr. Mary Ralph Kelly, died Jan. 10 at the Dominican Life Center. She was 77 and in her 61st year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Kelly was born in Lansing to Francis and Ruth (Burdick) Kelly. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian and received her degree in Spanish from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Sr. Kelly ministered in education for 44 years in Michigan and Illinois. In Michigan, she taught at St. Brigid, Detroit (1957-62); St. Thomas Aquinas, East Lansing (1962-63); St. Bernard, Alpena (1963-65); St. Stephen High School, Saginaw (1965-68); St. Joseph High School, St. Joseph (1968-69); Lake Michigan Catholic High School, St. Joseph (1969-72); Gabriel Richard High School, Riverview (1972-80, 2000-02); Regina High School, Harper Woods (1983-95); and Cardinal Mooney High School, Marine City (1995-2000).

For two years, she served as a driver for the Adrian Dominican Support Services in Adrian.

Sr. Kelly is survived by a brother, Francis P. Kelly, Jr., of Lansing, and sisters: Margaret Rose Kelly of Traverse City, Barbara Kelly of Lansing, and Patricia Kelly of Holt.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 16 in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian; burial will be in the Congregation cemetery.
