Sr. Therese Marie Costello, OP, died May 25 at the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament in Farmington Hills. She was 86 and in the 56th year of her profession as a Cloistered Dominican Nun.

Noreen Costello was born in Tourmakeady, County Mayo, Ireland, to Thomas and Margaret (Donoghue) Costello. She entered the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament on Oakland Avenue in 1956 and then came with the sisters when the community relocated to Farmington Hills in 1966.

Sr. Costello was an excellent cook and served as Kitchen Directress for many years. She also enjoyed writing poetry and would frequently compose for special occasions and for “thank yous” to benefactors.

Sr. Costello is survived by her sister, Peggy; her brother, Patrick; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was May 28. Burial is in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
