On Monday, May 18, Archbishop Weisenburger attended a meeting of the board of trustees of Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, the final board meeting in the "long and highly productive tenure" of outgoing rector and longtime faculty member Fr. Stephen Burr, who will return to parish ministry in July. Left to right, pictured are Fr. Tim Birney, Dr. Isaiah McKinnon, Mrs. Ann Thomas Battersby, Mr. Michael Ritchie, Fr. Stephen Burr, Brig. The meeting was also the final board meeting for Fausone and Ritchie, whose terms are concluding.

Confirmations at Christ the Redeemer Parish in Lake Orion

On Saturday, May 16, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass with the conferral of the sacrament of confirmation with young people at Christ the Redeemer Parish in Lake Orion. On the weekend before Pentecost, when the Church celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the people of God, the archbishop reminded those being confirmed of the profound gift being offered by the sealing of the Holy Spirit within them.
Region IV Bishops Retreat at the Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington Township

This week, Archbishop Weisenburger gathered with more than a dozen bishops from Michigan and Ohio for several days of prayer, fraternity, and reflection during the annual Region IV Bishops Retreat at the Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington Township. "Time spent together in prayer and conversation is a real gift," Archbishop Weisenburger said. "What always strikes me at gatherings like these is the shared love the bishops have for the people entrusted to our care. "
Confirmations at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Detroit

On Saturday, May 9, Archbishop Weisenburger had the joy of celebrating the sacrament of confirmation with young people at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Detroit, sealing them with the gift of the Holy Spirit and preparing them for a life of faith as followers and disciples of Jesus Christ. The archbishop joined Fr. Beto Espinoza in encouraging the newly confirmed students to share Christ's love with others.
Confirmations and chapel blessing at St. Barbara Parish in Dearborn

On Sunday, May 10, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated the sacrament of confirmation with 24 confirmandi and met several first communicants who received their First Communion this Easter at St. Barbara Parish in Dearborn.
The archbishop also presided over the blessing and dedication of a new chapel dedicated to St. Pio of Pietrelcina, more commonly known as Padre Pio. The dedication of the chapel, which now houses a first-class relic of St. Pio, was sponsored by the St. Pio Foundation. St. Barbara Parish hosted first- and second-class relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina in 2023, starting a strong devotion to the saint at the parish.
Hosting Detroit seminarians to mark the end of the academic year

Archbishop Weisenburger hosted Archdiocese of Detroit seminarians at his residence on Sunday, May 3, to celebrate the end of the school year and introduce them to the new director of seminarians, Fr. Mario Amore, and the director of priestly vocations, Fr. Matthew Hood.
Also in attendance were Fr. Adam Nowak, priest-secretary to the archbishop; Fr. Kevin Creagh, CM, incoming rector-president of Sacred Heart Major Seminary; and Fr. Tim Birney, vicar general and moderator of the curia.
Celebrating Mass with members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

On Sunday, May 3, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass at Sacred Heart Major Seminary with members of a host of local chapters of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He is pictured with Mary Lynn Donovan and Matthew Hunt, as well as retired Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Donald F. Hanchon, the archdiocesan liaison to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Presiding over Sacred Heart Major Seminary’s 101st commencement exercises

On Saturday, May 2, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated a baccalaureate Mass and presided over the 101st commencement exercises for Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, where dozens of graduates received diplomas, degrees and certifications to help them serve the Gospel in parishes, schools and Catholic institutions. The commencement took place is the seminary’s newly renovated auditorium.
Attending the Christian Brothers' Dinner in honor of Msgr. Charles Kosanke (Class of '77)

On Thursday, April 30, Archbishop Weisenburger attended the 45th annual Christian Brothers' Dinner at Penna's of Sterling Heights, hosted by De La Salle Collegiate in Warren. This year's dinner honored Msgr. Charles Kosanke (Class of '77), rector of the Basilica of Ste. Anne in Detroit, and also celebrated the centennial of the founding of De La Salle Collegiate in 1926. The annual dinner also supports the next generation of students with merit-based scholarships.
Sacrament of confirmation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Temperance

On Wednesday, April 29, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated the sacrament of confirmation with young people at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Temperance. During the Easter season, the archbishop has celebrated confirmations at several southeast Michigan parishes, encouraging students in their journey with Christ.
"We're not sure what to think of each other," the archbishop joked.
