Hispanic Men’s Conference offers ‘opportunity to bond’

Detroit — The seventh annual Hispanic Men’s Conference of the Archdiocese of Detroit will be held on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, in Detroit.

“We chose to have the conference on the day of the canonization of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII because of its focus on mercy this year,” said Fr. Eduardo Montemayor, SOLT, associate director of evangelization and Hispanic ministry with the Archdiocese of Detroit.

The conference, which will be held this year at St. Christopher Church in Detroit, is open to men 12 years old and older, so that fathers may have “an opportunity to bond with their sons,” said Fr. Montemayor, though he explained there will be separate tracks available for the adults and the youth at different times.

The conference will include opportunities for confession, traditional food, eucharistic adoration and testimonies from several prominent Hispanic men — including Auxiliary Bishop Arturo Cepeda of Detroit, and Cesar Arenas, a former drug dealer turned Catholic missionary.

The conference will be from 5-10 p.m. April 26 and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 27 at St. Christopher, 7800 Woodmont Ave., Detroit.

Pre-purchased tickets are $20 per adult and $10 per youth. Tickets at the door are $25 per adult and $15 per youth. A special family rate for a maximum of five people is $50. Free, secure parking is provided. For more information or to register, call (313) 753-5412.
