Marian swings its way to Catholic League win







Detroit — Marian high school came out on top at the Catholic High School League girls’ golf championships on Tuesday.

Shooting a combined 337, the Mustangs topped runner up Mercy for the championship on a cool but clear day on the links of St. John’s golf course in Plymouth Township. The win made Marian’s varsity golf a perfect 9-0 on the season.

Mercy scored a 356 on the day. Fr. Gabriel Richard of Ann Arbor came in third with 377. Also in the tournament were Academy of the Sacred Heart, which scored 393; Regina with a 402 finish; Notre Dame Prepatory with 418 and Ladywood with 422.

Marian’s Ellen Manson led the All Catholic League team with an individual score of 79. Teammate Macy Hudson scored an 80. Mercy’s Maggie Lentz had the third best score of 81.

Also on the All Catholic League team were Marian’s Lianne DiMambro (86); Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Sarah Dilts (88); Mercy’s Maddy Asta (89); Regina’s Natali Didio (89); Mercy’s Brenna Hammond (90); Notre Dame Prep’s Brooke Borowski (91); Marian’s Kristin Lunghamer (92); Divine Child’s Natalie Blazo (92) and Fr. Gabriel Richard’s Aspen Sims (92).
