May They Rest in Peace: Deacon Jerome J. Campernel

Deacon Jerome J. Campernel, who served for many years as a deacon at St. Therese of Lisieux and St. John Vianney parishes in Shelby Township, passed away suddenly on Aug. 8, 2022, at the age of 79.

He was born in Detroit on Oct. 10, 1942 to Albert and Eleanor Campernel and was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Detroit on Oct. 6, 2007.

Deacon Campernel is the beloved husband of Judith (nee Trombly), dear father of David (Mary Beth) Campernel and Cheryl (Steve) Greene, dearest grandfather of Noah and Nicholas Johnson and Dylan and Joshua Greene, dearest brother of Robert (Maureen) Campernel and Margaret (Bill) Francis and the late Roger Campernel and the late Richard Campernel.

Visitation Friday, Aug. 12, 2-8 p.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr Road (north of 21 Mile Road) in Shelby Township. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Instate Saturday 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Therese of Lisieux. A private entombment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
