May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Ann Patrice Remkus, OP

Sr. Ann Patrice Remkus, OP, baptized as Lucille Judith Remkus, died on Friday, December 24, 2021, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 93 years of age and in the 74th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Ann Patrice was born in Rockford, Illinois, to Frank and Petronella (Stansel) Remkus. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School in Rockford, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and a Master of Arts degree in English from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.

Sister ministered for over 47 years in education, pastoral and office ministry in Alpena, Michigan; Chicago, Elgin, Wilmette, Rockford, Cicero and Calumet City, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa; Oakland, California; and Douglas, Arizona. This includes four years at Aquinas High School in Chicago and eight years at Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, both Congregation-sponsored institutions. She served six years as principal of Loretto School in Douglas. In addition, she ministered for seven years in the Adrian Dominican business offices in Adrian. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 2005.

Sister Ann Patrice was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward; and sisters, Victoria McKenna, Bernice Alberty, and Ann Goodoff. She is survived by loving nieces and nephews and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Rite of Committal (burial) for Sister Ann Patrice was held on Friday, 12/24/21, at 1:30 p.m. in the Congregation Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, 12/29/21, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine’s Chapel. The Ritual of Remembering will be held on Wednesday, 12/29/21, at 1:30 p.m. in the Rose Room at the Dominican Life Center. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Michigan, 49221.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
