May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Laura Pesick, OP

Sr. Laura Pesick, OP, formerly known as Sr. Mary Norman, died on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 93 years of age and in the 75th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Laura was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Norman and Margaret (Cummins) Pesick. She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and earned a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sister Laura spent almost 55 years ministering in elementary, secondary and adult education in Chicago, Illinois; Detroit, Port Huron, New Baltimore, and Harrison Township, Michigan; Wickliffe, Ohio; and Alameda and San Diego, California. This includes over five years teaching at Dominican High School in Detroit, an institution of the Congregation. She served for six years as assistant principal and elementary teacher at St. Philip Neri in Alameda, and four years at St. Therese Academy in San Diego.

Sister Laura was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Norma Pesick. She is survived by a brother, Joseph Pesick of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, other loving family and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 14, 2022, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 am Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI, 49221.
