May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Theresa McCall, OP

Sr. Theresa McCall, OP, formerly known as Sr. Victor Mary McCall, died on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 93 years of age and in the 59th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Theresa was born in Detroit to David and Mary (Shingleton) McCallShe graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and a Master of Arts degree in Guidance/Counseling from Wayne State University in Detroit. 

A Word Service will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021.

Sister’s ministries were all in Michigan, where she served in elementary and secondary education for over 25 years in Detroit, Tecumseh, Alpena, Clawson, Riverview and Dearborn Heights; and in Social Services for 15 years in Detroit, Dearborn Heights, Inkster and Dearborn. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2011.

Sister Theresa was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Girard, John, Paul and Martin, and a sister, Margaret Hixson. She is survived by a brother, Berard McCall, loving nieces and nephews and her Adrian Dominican Sisters. 

Due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols, the Dominican Life Center is closed until further notice to all guests or visitors. All are welcome to participate in Sister’s wake and funeral via live stream at http://www.adriandominicans.org/LiveStream.aspx 

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Word Service will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021. Prayers of Committal will be held in the back of St. Catherine Chapel.
