REDFORD TOWNSHIP — More than 1,000 law enforcement officials, family members and hundreds of mourners gathered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church on July 19 to say their final goodbyes to Dallas Police Officer Michael Krol.

Officer Krol was a native of Redford Township and a veteran of the Wayne County Sheriff prior to joining the Dallas Police Department. He was killed in an attack on police officers in Dallas.

St. Robert Bellarmine pastor Fr. Richard Leliaert presided at the funeral Mass. Law enforcement officers from throughout the Midwest, and from Texas, attended the service.

The procession to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield was more than four miles long and included more than 600 police cars.
