Sr. Ann Christine Charon, IHM, 88, died June 21 at the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe.
Sr. Charron born Aug. 4, 1927, in Dover Township, Ontario, the 12th of 13 children of Paul and Julia (Lozon) Charron. Baptized Marie Edesse (“Marie Edith” in English), she attended Holy Cross grade and high schools in Marine City. After graduation, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe in 1945. She recently celebrated her 70th jubilee.
Sr. Charron earned degrees from Marygrove College and Wayne State University in Detroit. She taught and served in schools in Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Puerto Rico, including Christ the King, Detroit; St. Michael, Monroe; and St. Thomas, Ann Arbor. In Port Huron, Sr. Charron served as manager, administrator and then co-director of Marydale Center, a home for senior citizens, for 25 years. She retired in 2004 and continued to work part-time at Marydale and also as a pastoral minister for St. Mary Parish, Port Huron.
Sr. Charron is survived by her sister, Anna Bonser, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leo, Ernest, Daniel and Bert; and by her sisters Rose, Beatrice, Alma, Marie, Anna, Delore and Julia.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 24 at the IHM Motherhouse. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery.
