Sr. Eileen Lantzy, OSM, formerly Sr. Mary Stella Lantzy, died Jan. 1. She was 72 and in her 52nd year in the congregation of the Servants of Mary.
Eileen Lantzy was born May 2, 1943, the oldest of 10 children of Darrell and Violet McCoy Lantzy. She grew up in Detroit and attended Servite High School. She received her degree in social work.
Sr. Lantzy ministered in education for 16 years in Nebraska, Iowa, and New York. She lived in Detroit and ministered at several organizations in the Detroit area, such as Bridging Communities Inc., Holy Redeemer Grade School, All Saints Parish, Mercado Food Hub, and Loaves and Fishes Southwest, where she was executive director from 2009-10.
Sr. Lantzy is preceded in death by her father and mother and is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dan Hoffman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Elizabeth Lantzy, Emmett Lantzy, Henry Lantzy and Wendy Miller, Jerry and Alma Lantzy, Timothy and Bluma Lantzy, Anthony Lantzy and Matthew Chila, Patrick and Kimberly Lantzy, and Dan and Donna Lantzy; and the Servants of Mary Community.
