Sr. Eileen Souva, OP

SouvaSr. Eileen Souva, formerly Sr. Agnes Eileen Souva, died Jan. 5 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 84 and in the 68th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Souva was born in Brest, Mich., to Roy and Melvina (Eder) Souva. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and Siena Heights College (University), both in Adrian.

Sr. Souva spent 24 years ministering in education in Michigan, Illinois and California. In Michigan, she served at Resurrection, Lansing (1947-49); St. Mary, Rockford (1956-57, 1961-63); St. Norbert, Inkster (1958-61); St. Mary, Paw Paw (1963-69); St. Luke, Flint (1969-73); St. John, Fenton (1973-79); St. John the Baptist, Ypsilanti (1979-81); and St. John the Evangelist, Jackson (1981-2006). She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2007.

Sr. Souva is survived by a sister, Ann Lawler of Northville, and two brothers, Gerald Souva of Taylor and James Souva of Shelby Township.

Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Catherine Chapel on Jan. 9. Burial is in the Congregation cemetery.
